Mod Monday- Marilyn on the movie Que

Have you been watching SMASH on NBC? Well I have! And I am really looking forward to tonight's episode where it all comes to a culmination. Karen or Ivy? In the meantime, to educate myself on the Bombshell,  my Netflix Que has started to collect many a Marilyn movies. Which one is your favorite?

Mod Monday- Zou Bisou Bisou

Let's be honest... you have been singing this song ALLLLL day. And if you are like Ben, you found the original Zou Bisou Bisou, the Sophia Loren version and the Huffington Post announcing custom vinyls of Jessica Pare's version.
And since the storyline didn't seem to move very much, I focused on the fashion. I felt like they were just reintroducing all the character's back to us. It has been a long time, I'm sure we needed a refresher, I'll give them that. My favorite dress of the night was the short black number that Megan was wearing... very Trina Turk-ish, no?

I Loved Janie Bryant's recap of the fashions from the episode. And despite my love of that black dress above, I normally am drawn to the 60's colors... and this episode has it FOR SURE.

Mod Thursday? Duh, it's Mad Men Mania around here

Yes, I realize I should be throwing back a martini as I catch myself up and get excited for the Mad Men premiere this Sunday. But come on, it's Thursday and I didn't have a bad day. So, as i sip my wine I have a few things digital and wait for it.... analog , for ya to get excited about the premiere on Sunday too. Newsweek had a pretty bad ass throwback edition this week. Ben picked one up at lunch today... you should too.
This gallery of clothing from Mad Men Costume designer Janie Bryant. Amazing insight and a few sneak peeks for the season.

If you are in Dallas you can join us and a few mod friends at the Dallas Smoke 60's Mod Night tomorrow (Friday the 23rd). And dress as your fave character... just get ready to dance. That is what it's all about. but definitely friend their Facebook page even if you can't go.

And if you are really bored... you can play this interactive Mad Men game on YouTube... not gonna lie, it is fun.
We'll meet back here for a Mod Monday rehash of the premiere. ok?

Fiddle fig tree

I have been watching marathons of Secrets From a Stylist and on the last one I saw, I spotted a Fiddle Fig in the corner. Normally I wouldn't notice this kind of thing but I have been seeing them pop up a ton of places lately. Including my bosses office, Joslyn's living room, and This month's RueMag.

Then I googled it.... To find that Emily Henderson had used it in her design star finale show, Jonathan Adler rocked a couple in his dining room and Other people love and blog about them too!!

Now I am on the look out for how to fit this fun indoor tree into our decor.

If I could invite anyone to dinner it would be @donaldglover

I am officially obseesed. My friend Collette introduced me to Childish Gambino recently. And other than the fact that he is a halarious comedian,  actor on one of my fave TV shows, was a writer for 30 Rock (are you kidding me?! awesome), and just well pretty good looking, his lyrics and rapping are damn catchy. Then I found his blog. F*ing beautiful stuff. I flipped through the back archives for like an hour last night.

Needless to say, I just bought my ticket to go see him next week @thePalladium, psyched.

Mod Monday- Fly with me!

It's no surprise that I love to travel. The adventure, the chase of discovery! If it involves a trip to somewhere new, count me in. Even if it involves 3 weeks in -20C weather, or rooming with 5 other people to see part of Europe, or signing up for hand bell choir (yes friends, I said handbells). Laugh it up until you hear that I was able to go to Switzerland, Puerto Rico, Vancouver and Toronto with a hand bell choir!! Part of the reason I love my job is because it takes me all over the place. I'll be in NY this week, and off to China in 2 weeks. I am still holding out for India. I would LOVE to go there.
I love to travel now, but I wish it were still like when the Braniff girls were around. I mean, Pucci uniforms?? yes, please! I do believe they are the epitome of MOD.  If I had an extra $250,000 laying around I would snag this tres' chic Braniff/Pucci collection on eBay. But instead I think I am just going to purchase these 2 books:

And watch this show when it premieres in the fall:

Until then, the least the current day airlines could do, is more safety demos like these flight attendants right?

Gobble Gobble

After a lovely 15 hour drive, we made it to NC, and for the first time in probably 20 years I have been able to watch the Macy's day parade!! Happy Thanksgiving and enjoy your Holiday!
What's your favorite float? I think I love Snoopy!

Food Revolution

photo from JamieOliver.com

I love food. period. If you know me at all you know that is a true statement. I also love Jamie Oliver, something about his british-ness, his genius cooking skills and his good looks (sorry B).
As soon as I heard about his Food Revolution I immediately set the TiVo to record and was ready for goodness to be spread throughout the US.
Although I have my "fat girl" moves, I completely agree with Jamie's statement:

"I believe that every child in America has the right to fresh, nutritious school meals, and that every family deserves real, honest, wholesome food. Too many people are being affected by what they eat. It's time for a national revolution. America needs to stand up for better food!"

I was reminded of this when I read my GOOP newsletter earlier today, and researched it a little more. I perused Jamie's website, and got pumped up all over again for this amazing movement.

So... check it out for yourself and sign the petition!!

the Boys

I got caught up on Design Star tonight thanks to my good friend TiVo. I picked my favorite rooms. It turns out it is consistently Dan, Antonio and Nathan that make the top. Sadly Nathan is gone so my vote is going towards Dan or Antonio.

Although the judges weren't wild about Dan's room this week I was digging the graphic element of the pink line that went around the entire room. The tiles around the TV were pretty cute too.

Who are your faves? What's your fave design star room?
